B&C: Weekly Update
Where I ramble about my week and what I've read this week
I’m beginning to wonder how often I should actually send these out. I’m getting the hang of writing longer reviews that I can then share here as a kind of weekly digest. I’ve also been slowly reading, so I don’t have a lot to really review all the time.
I did end up reading both Legendborn and Bloodmarked by Tracy Deon, phenomenal as always. I can’t explain what this series means to me. Legendborn was great, Bloodmarked is phenomenal. The prologue of Oathbound already has been emotional to read, thus I can’t wait for what is next.
I also finished Exit Strategy by Martha Wells (book number 4 of The Murderbot Diaries) This one focused on rescuing Dr. Mensah who had been taken hostage. As always, these are delightful and short SciFi books to read in between books with heavier subjects.
For my non-fiction pick this month I am reading Hood Feminism Mikki Kendall, I initially started it on audio then switched to reading because I wanted to highlight some passages that resonated with me or that were informative, which is kind of hard to do when listening to an audiobook. Don’t get me wrong, I love audiobooks and enjoy them all the time, there are times when I prefer to take my time to read and take notes as I am reading.
ICYMI: I Broke up with my Kindle, I posted a review of the device I got to replace it
Book I’m recommending this week
Raise Hell by Brit KS is a urban fantasy in a modern gothic setting that involves a rebel princess who can hear ghosts and a broody man that ends up being her bodyguard. They team up to solve a mystery and follow the trails of ancient secrets that you might not see coming. It’s currently on sale (until 3.13) to celebrate Brit KS birthday!
Curlz Corner - Tips, tricks, product, and Q&A
Struggling to get your curls to behave?
Too flat - You may be using too many moisture rich products, try to balance it out with some protein. How do you know if the product has protein? Find it in the ingredients, the most common are rice protein, soy protein, or wheat protein.
Too frizzy/tangling - It might be a sign that you need a trim, or you are using too many products with protein in it. Look for protein free products.
Next week I will post some of my favorite products (the ones I’ve emptied multiple times.)
If you have made it this far, thank you for reading. I hope you decide to stick around.
Bye for now,
-Z
